if you need make this car properly – you need Tech2 or MDI interface to make SPS for loading proper software.
I just picked up a MPPS v16 ecu tuning kit china clone. It seems to work but shows the wrong voltage. Maybe there is something wrong with the hardware. Here are some tips of how to modify and fix it. Big thanks to the folk in the MH community. Helped me a lot!
My working clone has the blue board in it.
R13 and R7 and R8 bad because 3digit resistor bigger tolerance 5%
Check only R13 value
it is wrong in most of Clones
Use 4 digit resistor tolerance 1% or less
and change 3 resistors.
R8. 120ohm Size 0805.
For a farnell codes for R7 ,R8 and R13 Resistors:
Just go to any electronics part store such as digikey.com and type in the 4 digit numbers for search 4702, 4701, 1200.
it will pull up lots of the correct surface mount resistors and they will let you order only what you need
After that voltage is correct. Very small resistors, solder carefully.
Here is my test result: OK!
Reworked one unit after showing wrong voltage 30 volt.
Reworked with normal size resistors 1% percent tolerance.
R7-4.7kohm 5% stock resistor not changed, i’m going to change it but i think there is no difference.
Tested with the car switched on and also off, all good voltage is ok.
Read, write ok.
Have seen my friend’s mpps v18 ecu flasher pcb. It seems much more better in design and quality. He says it’s working more stable and fast. Maybe i need buy a new one.
How to remap Opel Astra 1.9cdti Bosch EDC16C9 with ECU tuning tools? Using MPPS V18 (V22.214.171.124) china or MPPS V16 (V16.1.02) clone? Here is a tutorial of Astra EDC16C9 remap with mpps ecu flasher.
Mpps v18 wins in functions and connections. It can read and write more ecu types through CAN/ K-LINE/OBD/BOOT (MAIN, Tricore boot, multi boot). And in the package, one more cable is added for ECUs not supported OBD.
But for personal diyers, if just for some specific ecu that both support, Mpps v16 should be ok,same as mpps v18 and save a lot.
How to remap Opel Astra EDC16C9 with MPPS V16?

I just got an MPPS V16 ECU tuning interface and installed it on my Win7 laptop.
I connected to my Renault Laguna 2 1.9dci. Ignition on, I can get an ECU ID successfully but when I hit ‘read’ it gives a error and tells me to check the log files (which seem to be in Chinese).
Any help with this one? I’ve read some VWs for example need to have a fuse pulled. Some suggested me doing that by MPPS would lose injectors codes.Better do that with BDM.
I don’t think injector codes are used on my car, I have a ‘sonde Renault CAN Clip’ device and injector codes are set to off if I remember rightly.
Also a quick Google suggests BDM needs the ECU open on a work-bench but I’m not doing that. I just want to remap for a bit more power I’m no expert so will pay someone to do the adjustments. What’s the best cheapo tool to read my map and then get someone to adjust it and write again?
Another suggestion was Fgtech galletto v54 or reworked Kess v2. Fgtech helped done it many times. Somebody has done it many times. But i do not want to spend budget because I do have other cars to tune.
In the end I tried an MPPS V16, KWP 2000+ and and MPPS V13. I had success only with the MPPS V13 – the cheap one that comes built into the OBD plug. Map looks good and safe, stage 1 map
mpps 13.2 run good on laguna 1.9 DCI 100 protocole is wrong ( EDC15C2 ) for edc15C3 but read and write it’s ok. tested good.
I extracted my original map and then sent it to someone to have it adjusted for more power. I know those remappers are frowned upon but this guy was based in the UK and seemed trustworthy.
Actually his first remap didn’t work and he did it again in another software which did work. He said “WinOLS on this occasion being through is a bad thing….Ecm / swiftec rules” Whatever that means!
I’d be very happy if someone would take a look at the original and new map and tell me exactly what was done and if it seems like a good map? Anything that could potentially be improved further?
Personally it feels like there is a bit more power in the turbo boost range but could still gain more in the low rev range below 1800RPM. No smoke there even foot to the floor.
