Volvo EDC15C11 Read and Write by Kess Ktag or MPPS

Here are optional solutions of Volvo V70 EDC15C11 ECU read and write using different ECU programmers, incl. Kess V2, Ktag, MPPS cable, FgTech Galletto 4 V54.
Car: Volvo V70 D5 2004 163hp
Ecu: I think the car has either a EDC15C2 or EDC15C11 ecu. (K-suite states EDC15C2)
Option 1: You can use Fgtech Galletto V54
Rread/write work only in bootmode at this car.

Option 2: Ktag can do it
You can use me 7 boot edc15 ecu
I’ve done it with many volvo edc15c11 with kess pinned from obd to Ecu and ground pin 24!
Option 3: Kess v2 makes it
Some Volvo EDC15C11 just refuses to be read with a ktag tool. KessV2 bootmode always solved me this problem – wake up error
Reasons were that my power supply was playing up so used an old atx computer supply.
I’ve managed to do it by a kess v2 as well
For those wanting to read/write and ecu containing the AM29F400, AM29F800 chip with kess v2 just follow theses steps.
Connect ecu to the appropriate pins.
Put it into boot mode by grounding pin 24.
Open ksuite and in protocol menu select boot St… Once in there select Bosch MED 7 29F400. The protocol 114 and is the same for for 29f800 as well.
Just proceed to read and write as normal.
But beware the ksuite doesn’t do checksum this way so be sure to check your files.

never used i/0 terminal.
Option 4: MPPS cable works good via boot mode
Is the ECU going into “Boot mode”? if its not going into boot mode then you have no other option but to remove the eeprom and put into an external programmer. TBH its not that bad.
Have you got MPPS? Mpps is by far the best for boot mode and recovery and will do all 29f*** series under “EDC15 generic mode” but you must be able to get ecu into boot mode.
Another important note:
To tune the EDC15c11 you only need the 512kb file!!!! Also going through generic mode on mpps, kess, ktag with edc15c11 you must make sure cheksums are done as the software will not correct them!”

VAG Passat B5 EDC15 EGR Off by Kess V2 WinOLS

Feedback today:  chip tuning and egr offs on the VW Passat B5 1.9 tdi edc15 P from Russian tuner. 


This was an interesting car.
Passat B5 1.9 tdi. He had a motor of 101 hp the engine went off in raznos. such a motor was not found. and found 130 HP,
but did not change the ebu. at the factory, the engine at 80 degrees was punctured. Verdict lacked fuel injectors.
decided to chip tuning this vehicle and out of the firmware of 101 hp made 130 hp.

Kess V2 Read and Write Renault edc17cp58 on Boot Mode

Kess V2 manual: How to read/write Renault edc17cp58 ECU through BOOT:
Note: When writing the modified file, the checksum of the data may last several minutes, depending on the performances of your computer.
Preparation before Renault ECU read/write
  1. Remove the ECU from the vehicle;
  2. Open the ECU, taking care in not damaging the parts inside;
  3. Reconnect the ECU to the vehicle and start the engine, in order to make sure that it is still working and has not been damaged in the opening;
  4. Remove again the ECU from the vehicle;
  5. Select the right plug-in;
  6. Always make a backup copy of the ECU before Reading and / or Writing.
Remove all soldered wires before re-installing the ECU on the vehicle.
Connection instruction: EDC17 CP58 IROM TC1767
The pins Boot can be found on the bottom side of the ECU (in red in the picture).
The programming pads where to set the board adapter are located at the bottom right (in yellow).
Connection mode
♦ Connection using positioning frame and upper illumination deck
Material needed:
  • Positioning frame 14P800ADBO complete with upper illumination deck and programming probes
  • AC Adaptor 1400SWALIM
  • Adapter 14P600KT04
  • Ribbon cable144300T101
a.Set the ECU on the positioning frame 14P800ADBO;
b.Connect the AC Adaptor 1400SWALIM to the upper illumination deck and the tool;
c.Set the adapter 14P600KT04 into the compartment of the frame and lower it on the ECU;
d.Place two programming probes 14P800ABD3 on the two pins Boot shown in the picture and wedge them under the deck.
e.Place a programming probe 14P800ABD3 on pin CNF1 shown in the picture and wedge it under the deck.
Notice: Please refer to the positioning frame manual 14P800ADBO for an example of how to place the programming probe 14P800ABD3.
f.Ease the wire of the probe placed on pin CNF1 into the CNF1 connector of the adapter.
g.Join the wires of the probe placed on pins Boot and ease them into the BOOTD connector of the adapter.
Notice: The adapter switch must be set to OFF as shown in the picture:
h.Connect the ribbon cable 144300T101 to the adapter and the tool.
♦ Connection using only the positioning frame
Material needed:
  • Positioning frame 14P800ADBO
  • Adapter 14P600KT04
  • Ribbon cable144300T101
  • Solder wire

a.Set the ECU on the positioning frame 14P800ADBO;
b.Set the adapter 14P600KT04 into the compartment of the frame and lower it on the ECU;
c.Solder a wire to pin CNF1 shown in the picture and ease it into the CNF1 connector of the adapter.
d.Solder two wires to the two pins Boot shown in the picture and ease them into the BOOTD connector of the adapter.
Notice: The adapter switch must be set to OFF as shown in the picture:
e.Connect the ribbon cable 144300T101 to the adapter and the tool;

f.Remove both the bridge and the wire soldered before re-installing the ECU on the vehicle.

♦ How to Read/ Backup/Write edc17cp58 Renault using a KESS V2 Master
Backup: To make a full backup of the ECU, select Backup in the Reading box and click on Read.
Reading: Remove the check mark at the Backup option, select the component you want to read and then click on Read.
Notice: The term Maps at the side of the component indicates where the maps for engine control are stored.
Writing: Remove the check mark at the Restore option, select the component you want to write and then click on Write.
Notice: The term Maps at the side of the component indicates where the maps for engine control are stored.
Restore: To restore the backup file to the ECU, select Restore in the Writing box and click on Write.

Kess 5.017 came with Ksuite 2.23 software (a CD), saying Windows XP is the best operation to run on. And i did.


I opened KSuite 2.23 (E:), ran “ksuite_222_v2” exe.

Ran the setup application

Then Next, Next… to install

I accepted Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 License Terms, and setup in English

Finished installation!


Then, i can run the software to setup ksuite language

Important!!! replaced all files in C:/Ksuite 2.23 with E:/Ksuite 2.23

Then, i installed software for USB device and checked in Computer management


Here is all i did for kess 5.017 installation.

I have a fiat edc17c69 virgin (without software inside), this I can’t read.

How to read and write Opel EDC16C9 by MPPS Clone

Which tool is the best solutions for Opel EDC16C9 write? Some with mppps, some with kess v2,galletto fgtech v54… Here, I collected all useful info for you to write EDC16C9.
Mpps cable is verified to write EDC16C9 perfectly!!!!!!!
Use MPPS above v12 if you have (better mpps v18). Can read/write data area. I rewrite mine for50 times.
KESS and Galletto can not read and do full write.
Look to me that have some missing parts in the middle, at least compared to mine Vectra C.
I can confirm from first-hand experience that MPPS can read and write both the EDC16C9 and EDC16C39.
Obviously you can only read and write the data area in each case (aka a ‘partial read’) but that’s the same for any OBD tool. But that contains everything you need to tune, or to disable EGR and DPF).
To read/write the full ECU (i.e. to access the Operating System and User Program areas), or the serial EEPROM (where mileage, immo codes, service counters, etc) are stored, then you have to open the ECU case and use a BDM tool. But for normal tuning and DPF/EGR removal this is totally unnecessary unless you manage to brick the ECU during OBD writing.

A good tip-
if you want start car only – you need Opcom or Opel Tech 2 scan tool, reset ecu and program to car by obd

Kess v2 2.25/2.28 installation steps:

Step 1 – install K-Suite v2.25

Run K suite software and install K-Suite 2.25


Accept the license agreement

Select installation language to go on


Install usb driver


always click on Next until installation completes


Ksuite installation success.

Ksuite language: English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French


Step 2 – disable network

Disable all network connection


Step 3 – setup Ksuite properties

Go to Ksuite properties

Click on Find targets, then delete the “help” folder in C:\Ksuite

Copy another “help” folder in disk E: to C:\Ksuite

Close all windows


Step 4 – install & setup software for USB device

Select install USB device software automatically

After finishing the installation, go to Computer management

Select USB device


Step 5 – Ksuite v2.25 read BMW E90 ecu

Run KSUITE on desktop

It’s Kess v2 ksuite v2.25


Here we test Kess v2 on BMW E90 MED17/MEV17 ECU reading













BMW e90 reading ecu completed. Save data.


Step 6 – setup Ksuite v2.28

Delete “Setup 2.25” on Desktop

Again, open Ksuite properties

Click on Find targets,then delete all files in C:\Ksuite except the “help” folder

Copy all files in the Ksuite 2.28 zip file to C:\Ksuite

Delete the Ksuite 2.28 zip file

Then open K-suite app on Desktop

It’s ksuite 2.28 version now


Ksuite 2.28 can read BMW e90 ecu id like Ksuite 2.25 above
