Kess V2 Read and Write Renault edc17cp58 on Boot Mode

Kess V2 manual: How to read/write Renault edc17cp58 ECU through BOOT:
Note: When writing the modified file, the checksum of the data may last several minutes, depending on the performances of your computer.
Preparation before Renault ECU read/write
  1. Remove the ECU from the vehicle;
  2. Open the ECU, taking care in not damaging the parts inside;
  3. Reconnect the ECU to the vehicle and start the engine, in order to make sure that it is still working and has not been damaged in the opening;
  4. Remove again the ECU from the vehicle;
  5. Select the right plug-in;
  6. Always make a backup copy of the ECU before Reading and / or Writing.
Remove all soldered wires before re-installing the ECU on the vehicle.
Connection instruction: EDC17 CP58 IROM TC1767
The pins Boot can be found on the bottom side of the ECU (in red in the picture).
The programming pads where to set the board adapter are located at the bottom right (in yellow).

Material needed:
  • Positioning frame 14P800ADBO complete with upper illumination deck and programming probes
  • AC Adaptor 1400SWALIM
  • Adapter 14P600KT04

a.Set the ECU on the positioning frame 14P800ADBO;
b.Connect the AC Adaptor 1400SWALIM to the upper illumination deck and the tool;
c.Set the adapter 14P600KT04 into the compartment of the frame and lower it on the ECU;
d.Place two programming probes 14P800ABD3 on the two pins Boot shown in the picture and wedge them under the deck.
e.Place a programming probe 14P800ABD3 on pin CNF1 shown in the picture and wedge it under the deck.
Notice: Please refer to the positioning frame manual 14P800ADBO for an example of how to place the programming probe 14P800ABD3.

f.Ease the wire of the probe placed on pin CNF1 into the CNF1 connector of the adapter.
g.Join the wires of the probe placed on pins Boot and ease them into the BOOTD connector of the adapter.

♦ How to Read/ Backup/Write edc17cp58 Renault using a KESS V2 Master
Backup: To make a full backup of the ECU, select Backup in the Reading box and click on Read.
Reading: Remove the check mark at the Backup option, select the component you want to read and then click on Read.
Notice: The term Maps at the side of the component indicates where the maps for engine control are stored.
Writing: Remove the check mark at the Restore option, select the component you want to write and then click on Write.
Notice: The term Maps at the side of the component indicates where the maps for engine control are stored.
Restore: To restore the backup file to the ECU, select Restore in the Writing box and click on Write.

How to configure and flash Diatronik SRS Tool security key

Diatronik engineers will update/improve their devices recently. And here’s the detail instruction on updating Diatronik SRS+DASH+CALC+EPS OBD Tool security key.

1.After the first run utility screen will appear where you select to Start new dongle remote update session:

2.On the next page displayed is the generated update request (number-question) is a sequence of hexadecimal characters containing information about your key:

The update query can be stored in a file (button [To file]), copied with the button [To clipboard] or sent as email to developer ([mail]).

Archive the text file with results using your GCT serial # as file name and email it to developer. The update program can be closed at this stage. Wait for response email from the developer.

  1. Data updates are transmitted in encrypted form and can only be used once
  2. When generating the update data and during firmware update the key performs a series of checks on key options (ID, Shared code, and some others). This excludes the possibility of substitution of the key.

You must then run the client update utility again and select “Resume previously started remote update session”, then click [Next] button.

The screen will display the wizard page that contains the input field and display dump updates. Enter the dump received via email using one of the buttons: [Paste] or [Browse…]:update-diatronik-airbag-tool-4
After inserting the dump and pressing [Next] button the operation for updating the key memory with new data. Then last screen will display the outcome of the operation:

Important!

Next steps are only needed when the update key is in fact the firmware or image template. If the update was performed based on data of the image file, then step 3 is the final stage of the upgrade.

In the process of updating the key memory client utility will generate the final code-confirmation containing information about the updates (successful/unsuccessful). Code-confirmation is to be saved (button [To file]) or copied  [To clipboard], renamed using your serial # as file name and sent to developer of the application by any convenient way (email, PM, Skype:moe03071etc).

2017 Volvo FH4 FM4 work with Tech Tool 2.5.86 Confimed

Yes. Volvo PTT Premium Tech Tool version 2.5.86 and 2017 latest version PTT 2.6.36 both are able to work on Volvo Truck FH4 and FM4 the 2017 year:
Tested on 2017 model FH4.
Comes up as UPDATE REQUIRED because I think the apci+ is up to 11/2016 and the truck I connected to was brand new 2017
Nevertheless I was still able to change parameters

NB: after installing the software activate in normal mode (M140521) then update apci and then activate in dev mode (XX40645) then connect to truck. In normal mode does not read parameters on FH4 but in dev mode works fine.

 

Premium Tech Tool system requirements:

Windows 7 32bit / 64bit

the memory should be at least 4 GB, or it would affect the installation speed

How to use Lishi Ford HU101 Auto Pick and Decoder

It’s a write-up of picking and decoding the Ford HU101 lock, using the Lishi HU101 2in1 auto pick/decoder .

 

The Ford HU101 lock is considered by many to be one of the hardest auto locks to defeat , but in reality they are quite a straight forward pick and decode. The 2 factors that hamper many when picking this lock are too much tension and overlifting, cure these traits and the lock is a straight forward and quick defeat.

 

As with any lock it is a big help to study information resources such as instacode , this will give you alot of information about a lock and plenty of crucial info , in studying this resource we can note that no adjoining wafer will be no more than 2 heights different to the one next door to it , so a No 1 height can only have a No2 or No 3 height next door to it and so on.

 

We can also note that the No 10 position in the older series will always be a No2 height and will only differ in the later extended series of this lock.

 

This lock requires the lightest of tension possible, only just a gentle tension for best results , anything more than a gentle tension will hamper picking , the stronger the tension the harder the lock will be to open. So very very very light tension , i cannot highlight the importance of this enough .

 

 

The HU101 Lock

 

The HU101 Lock found on Ford cmax models from 2003 and most newer models , as well as on Land Rover and Range Rover models from 2006 , and on the new Volvo models. ( though only the lishi 2in1 picks and the new lishi HU101 +10 picks will pick the landrover, range rover and the new Volvo locks , the old lishi HU101 and the copy picks will not pick these models at all ).

 

The lock has 10 positions and 5 wafer heights , making it a difficult lock to overlift and difficult to pick with rakes etc , it is this type of lock that the locksmith benefits greatly from the lishi range.

 

The differs reduce drastically once some common differ info is known on the HU101 lock . The following applies to the entire HU101 range of locks to date, with the exception of the extended series, but covers the most common series 1 to 4000.

 

1) The No 10 position nearest the tip will always be a No 2 Cut ( except in the extended series).

2) The No 1 position nearest the bow will never be a number 1 cut

3) There will never be more than 2 height differences between wafers next door to each other Lock sequence picking

 

After a year of testing and use of this tool , we have found this lock responds best if picked in a sequence , following this sequence picking greatly increases the success rate with this lock.

 

If picking the lock in a clockwise direction , then follow the following sequence:

 

Pick positions 1 , 5 , 9 , 4 and 8 first in what ever order they bind first , when these are set a slight plug movement will be felt , this movement confirms that these positions are set. Then pick positions 2 , 3 , 6 , 7 and 10 in what ever order they bind and the lock will open

 

If picking the lock in an anti clockwise direction then pick positions 2 , 3 , 6 , 7 and 10 first , when plug movement to confirm set then pick positions 1 , 5 , 9 , 4 and 8 until open.

 

The lock often picks easiest in the locking direction.

 

 Step 1: Pick the HU101 lock

 

Begin by fully inserting the pick in the lock , and ensure a wafer can be felt in position 1 , once fully inserted , apply the lightest of feather tension , too much tension will make the wafers impossible to pick, will cause overlifting and will result in damage to your tool.

 

So having applied a very light tension pick positions 1 , 5 , 9 , 4 and 8 in what ever order they bind first , so tickle each wafer in turn , if it moves then try the next , pick each solid wafer in turn till it moves again, once all are set a slight plug movement will be felt , this confirms these are set. We then pick positions 2 , 3 , 6 , 7 and 10 in which ever order they bind until the lock opens.

Following the sequence picking greatly simplifies the picking process and if followed with very light tension and a little practice, picking this lock becomes a simple process. Once picked we hold the lock in the open position to decode it.

 

 

Step 2: Decode the Lock using the Lishi HU101 decoder

 

As The HU101 is a 2 lifter tool , we decode in the same direction as we picked and with the same lifting arm, this lock can only be decoded whilst held in the picked position.

 

When lifting the arm along the line a spring is felt , push past the spring until the stop position , the full stop position is where you take the reading and not at the beginning of the springy feeling. So decoding in the same direction as we picked, this lock decoded as ;

Difference Between JLR Pathfinder and SDD software

Here, i’ll chip in words of “Goodbye JLR SDD and Hello Pathfinder”
What’s the difference between Pathfinder and SDD software?
1.The JLR Pathfinder software
(You must have a online account to work with it; obdii365.com won’t offer it)
It is the only unit that will be compatible with the Pathfinder software and all JLR vehicles with the new vehicle architectures found in 2017 and newer vehicles (from the Range Rover/Range Rover Sport L405/L494). In addition to the 2017 and newer vehicles, the JLR DoIP VCI will also be capable of interfacing with 2014 through 2016 Multi-CAN architecture vehicles (see application list below).
2.The SDD software
(If you want to do programming, you must have an online account)
All 2014-2017 with no DOIP and earlier (2006 to 2014) land rover and Jaguar will still use the JLR SDDsoftware.
Why we use JLR Pathfinder instead of SDD?
The reason for SDD being retired and Pathfinder being introduced is more because of the contract with Ford expiring, as the SDD is based on the Ford IDS, so JLR has to pay Ford to keep using it.
The major change to the cars themselves is the infotainment system, the Next Generation Infotainment (NGI) is an ethernet-based system, vs the older MOST fibre-optic infotainment i.e. the IAM2.1
So yeah, you could not (easily or economically) retrofit the NGI system into an IAM2.1 car, for example. The components and network are totally different.
But… the NGI has been in some JLR vehicles since 2016, and is supported by SDD. There will be a cutoff where new models are no longer supported by SDD and only by Pathfinder. But Pathfinder also works on older vehicles too, back to 2014MY (approximately).
What tool can be used with Pathfinder software?
The  JLR DoIP VCI interface! Both original and clone are okay.
